the pitchforke is a monthly journal for the digital-barnyard scene in hull uk. its purpose is to be a village newsletter in full monocrome and a visual accompaniment to the auto-barn nights of improvised technofolk at ye olde back boy in the olde towne Hull. The first event was one of the rootinest, tootinest, yee haws of a night where everybody got on down to the sounds of weirding module bird songs, dr. hermaine jones's psychedelic soapbox and the norskone's rendition of that old time classic: "P*** H*******'s a c***". Hope y'all can come on down and bring some open source ragttime and join the fun at the next one. tues 30th of november, when issue two will fly off the press and into your pocket, or under your real ale

UPDATE 09/02/05

the second event went down great with some fantastic skretting and an amusing tale by philip wimcolmlee barnes and the usual high class performance from the weirding module. this month's event will take place on THURSDAY THE 17th of FEBRUARY and will contain all the usual digital folk magic of the last two...

autobarn 0.3 was a fantastic event: with helmut lemke and chris gladwin's laptop/tenor sax duet stealing the show and the mysterious elk valkyrie retaining their 100% no show record. myself, i played some music on the old laptop which mainly sounded like electronic cats dying, but less rythmic.

_+_+_+_+_+SPECIAL UPDATE+_+_+_+_+_+

new autobarn on 10/03/05 curated by rob gawthrop. no time for my 386 to render a pitchforke for this un' but the april show is a vinyl special.

UPDATE 29/4/05

well the pitchforke went out for the vinyl special, and gee wiz was that a night, rob Gawthrop played some train noises on 45, Automated Noise Ensemble played four copies of their forthcoming turntable strings picture disk and Slippedisco spun a hypnotic dirge. However the show stealer was a mister P.D. Burwell. In an hour and a half he played 6 records, broke two glasses, drank a bottle of whiskey and fell asleep. great records, shame about the singing.

UPDATE 13/7/05

the last autobarn was tipped as one of the best- and probably the most psychedelic. with george rogers and joe gilmore doing some attentive laptop improvisation with, a violinist -lee sendall, dave ellis and his chess piece string instrument, adalet giarmany playing his traditional kurdish drum and of course gladwin doing some gnarly jrr tolkien nord modular shit.
